HOLY SHIT.
Just met Stephen Chbosky, author of The Perks of Being A Wallflower. My boyfriend has his cell phone number. He is a beautiful man. Will write more tomorrow. Go buy the book NOW.

You met Stephen Chbosky? That must have been an indescribable experience. The Perks of Being A Wallflower is such a beautiful, beautiful book.
ReplyDeleteSeeing your profile says you're from Arizona, I'm almost positive a friend of mine was at that same signing. He's bringing back his girlfriend's copy, signed. She plans to weep when he (and Perks) arrive (which is soon!) Oh this is all so odd! I love when different aspects of life connect like this. Serendipity.
(P. S. Although the poll is closed, all I really want is for an old, toothless man to say "asbestos" ^_~)
Awww...who are you?
ReplyDeleteI just checked out your blog~ (god, it's so lovely! So much prettier than mine!)~ and know your name is Kat~ it's so lovely to meet you.
This might sound crazy, but how did you find me?!
Yes: Meeting Stephen Chbosky was an *amazing* experience, and he is as beautiful as you would imagine he must be, to write such a book. It seems we have other things in common...many of your favorite movies are also mine. :)
Oh~ and who was your friend from Cali? I paid a lot of attention to the people at that reading, because I felt I shared something really special with them, since we'd all been touched by this book and his presence. Your friend (and you) must be cool: I had him sign that book for my boyfriend, too!
Yes, my name is Kat :)
ReplyDeleteI believe I found because you commented on ShyBoysWin. I often check out the people who comment there, see who comes up. And you came up!
One of these days, I'll get around to rereading Perks. I do love Charlie.
Well, my friend actually now lives in Arizona. He's a redhead, sort of indie, sort of hipster, sort of pale, probably wearing Chuck Taylors, possibly with an instrument of some sort... I totally understand what you mean about sharing the experience. I'm positive it was amazing.
Oh, Kat~ that's hilarious!!!! I totally spoke with your friend at the reading, and was secretly hoping the person you were talking about was him. I told him I loved his hair~ (what I really wanted to say was that he looked like Ron Weasley, but the other two people I happened to chat with at that reading agreed that he probably got that all the time, and I didn't want to be unoriginal)~ but he seemed super cool. I have a real weakness for redheads~ (my boyfriend, who is most decidedly *not* a redhead, knows this ;-P)~ and I was eager to speak to him because he asked Stephen Chbosky about writing during the Q&A.
ReplyDeleteAs someone who was totally "that kid" in high school, and who is now about to graduate with an M.F.A. in creative writing, I know he's gonna be a writer one day. Please tell him I said hello. Does he go to ASU?
Also, I can't believe you found me through Jade's blog! (Something else we have in common). How excited are you about the new AFI album?!
And since you read my comment, I'm curious: are you also a Jimmy Eat World fan?
I can't believe it! Oh, of all the serendipitous things! Next time I talk to him (which may be a while), will I have a story to tell... ^_^ I shall also tell him you say hello. I'm not sure which school he goes to, actually. *shrug*
ReplyDeleteAha, yes it's true. I love Jade's blog. I am very, very excited for the new album, seeing first heard about it in December of 2007. Obviously, it's been taking quite some time, but I'm content to wait.
I haven't really listened to Jimmy Eat World much, but I've heard of them. I'll have to check it out. Also, I replied to your comment on my blog, if you're so inclined to check it out.
Comment coming your way on your blog...
ReplyDeleteAnd this really is amazing, all these connections. Statistically speaking, probably not that unlikely, but it feels like good karma nontheless. :)
And if your friend is still in high school, then chances are, he could go to any number of the ones inevitably sprinkled throughout the Valley...if he's in college out here as opposed to in Tucson, chances are he goes to ASU. And no worries about saying hi! I'm not sure he'll remember me. 'Twas a brief encounter.
And...I'm a sucker for Jade's blog too. Do you visit Hunter's as well? Although I like/admire Jade and think his blog is great for displaying a different side of him, I really love Hunter. He has about half as many followers as Jade, but he's so laidback and funny. Half his posts crack me up. I really hope "Crash Love" turns out to be both beautiful and heavy-sounding.
As for Jimmy Eat World...they're amazing. I love that they're labelmates with AFI and fans of each other...I could (and have) listened to Jimmy Eat World nonstop for ungodly lengths of time. For them I have nothin' but mad, mad love.
